What is it? 4 Lesson 7 A Pet Rat? I want a pet. But I can not get a cat. I can not get a dog. 5 A Pet Rat? What? A rat! A rat is not a pet. A rat is bad. It can run under my bed. It can rip up the rug. It can mess up my van. A pet rat can live in a tin box if you fix it up. You can mix up food in a tin can and set the can in the box. If a sack is in the box, the rat will rip it up to have a bed. 6 A Pet Rat? A rat will run and run and run. A rat can sit on your lap. It will run up your back and sit on your neck. People will not want to sit next to you and your rat. If you go on the bus, have the rat sit under your hat. Will the man get the pet rat? Why? Why not? 7 Lesson 8 What Is It? Gila monster lizard black widow spider rattlesnake fi e ants 8 What Is It? “If you are bit, will you get sick?” “Yes, you will.” “Can it kill you?” “Yes.” “Will it be bad if you are a kid?” “Yes, it will be.” “Where does it live? Can it get you at your job?” “Yes and no.” “Can it live where it is hot?” “Yes, it can.” “If a man is bit, can he get help?” “Yes, he can.” “Can my mom get help?” “Yes, she can.” 9 What Is It? “Does she have to act fast?” “Yes, she does.” “Do a lot live by us?” “Yes and no.” “If I am bit by just one, can it kill me?” “Yes.” “Is it all black?” “No.” “Can one be under the edge of a rock?” “Yes.” “Can one be on the edge of a log?” “Yes, it can.” “Can it buzz?” “No. It can not buzz.” What will you ask next? What is it?
