STUDENT'S ROLE IN THE COMMUNITY ENVIRONMENT Bagas Febrianto [email protected] Abstract : At this time the development of science is very significant, so very ordinary people certainly do not understand this progress, there are a lot of negative excesses that are spread among the people such as individualism, materialism, promiscuity, and so on. Students need to have very broad insight and reach to be able to help the community by solving problems critically because being critical does not develop naturally and is not innate, being critical can be developed through a learning process from experience and so on. So what does a student need to do and in what way can the student be helpful in the surrounding community, which is always in need of the help of more modern youths. In this research, we formulate the problem of the role of students towards the surrounding community and how to form commendable morals for students towards Indonesian society. Keywords: Students, Society, Role A. INTRODUCTION Students in the current era have become very natural to find, many people become students with various goals, and thus many students misunderstand what students should do and what are the obligations of a student. There are many organizations that students can join. There are also organizations inside and outside the university. Even in the course of the research, opportunities must be used in the best possible way to develop and utilize their potential optimally. Don't just turn your student life into going to class, going home, and sleeping. There are many opportunities and more that you can get through an active organization (Mustika Cahyaning Pertiwi, et al., 2015). Thus, many people misunderstand the behavior of a student's nature, with each of these perceptions, the community views students with their daily behavior. So what does a student need to do and in what way can the student be useful in the surrounding community which always needs the help of more modern youth and good  social interactions. According to (Angeline Xiao. 2018) In general, social interaction is a need for all human beings. Everyone is a social entity, so everyone needs to interact. In this research, we formulate the problem of the role of students towards the surrounding community and how to form commendable morals for students towards Indonesian society. According to the article (Agus Syukur, 2020) that is, commendable morals are traits or behaviors that can be accepted by all human beings from within who are considered good and do not deviate from the religious rules of Allah SWT. all the good and bad qualities of humans must have been born in his soul. Morals are the foundation of Islam, not only knowing that truth is noble and lying is bad, but also that honesty is great, and deception is destructive (Endang Soetari, 2017) Students are very respected people in the community and at this time students have many very important roles to the community itself regarding their knowledge that can be practiced. In Islam, science has a solid foundation in the Qur'an and As-Sunnah. It comes from the physical and metaphysical realms. Obtained intuitively / through the senses, reason, and mind. The scope of his knowledge is very broad, not only on general subjects but also on ukhrāwi issues (Mohammad Kosim., 2008). And the community at this time also really needs the role of these students because the public is ignorant of information. This is where the role of students is to convey knowledge that has been studied and distributed to the surrounding community. Supaya tidak terjadi kesamaan dalam segi fokus hasil penelitian, maka peneliti mencari beberapa penelitian terdahulu sebagai berikut : First, based on research entitled the role of students in development in Indonesia, which was written by Arnan Muflihady Martadinata in 2019. A conclusion that the role of students in the community is that students are the younger generation as someone who can change lives for the community and bring about  development in remote and underdeveloped areas. To unlock the potential of the region to make the region develop. Generasi muda adalah generasi yang mencari jati diri pada tingkatan usia. Oleh karena itu, tergantung dari jati diri bangsa Indonesia, perlu ditanamkan kepribadian yang baik pada generasi muda. Pengembangan kepribadian bagi mahasiswa (Mardawani, Lusiana., 2018). Penelitian diatas dilakukan menggunakan metode studi literatur literatur yang digunakan adalah buku-buku mengenai Pembangunan daerah, perencanaan pembangunan, serta buku mengenai gerakan mahasiswa sebagai referensi pembuatan jurnal ini. B. METHOD With descriptive research and with a qualitative approach, this research collects actual data. The source of this data was obtained through interviews with students and the surrounding community. Then the data is analyzed, data reduced, and draw a conclusion to get a result. C. RESULT On this occasion, I will describe a study using a qualitative method. Which is presented descriptively. The data collection is through literature and the most dominant method is by distributing online essays and questionnaires via google which I gave to students, both from UIN K.H Abdurahman Wahid students, Uin Kalijaga, UGM, and UMS, and to the public, we asked directly with interview method. In the contents of the google form, I distributed 2 questionnaires and 2 essays which were the main contents related to the formulation of the research problem. From the questionnaire data that I collected, I got the results, namely, with the same answer, which is "very important" with all the efforts made while being a student, all existing experiences are better applied to the community around us, so that the knowledge we demand can also be a blessing and useful. And 5 out of 15 students stated that they did  not follow the organizations provided on campus and the rest followed even though they were just following the existing UKM At the core of all existing essay answers, it can be concluded that students are highly respected people in the community and at this time students have many very important roles in society itself student sensitivity to the community environment can be achieved by participating in positive activities such for example, following an organization that is on campus, because basically, social sensitivity arises from a habit, while good habits can be found in the social environment. And when I ask the community, some very many people experience a period of lack of education, so the hope that the community around students today can guide well and can be useful for society and make changes without reducing existing values and norms, then the pride of society towards students will be very good and memorable The development of society is the achievement of the maturation of social relations. It can also be interpreted as a learning process to adapt to norms, morals, and traditions. That is, to communicate with each other and integrate into working units (Farida Mayar., 2013). D. DISCUSSION In this section, I will describe the results of the research and will discuss one by one what things must be questioned in the formulation of the problem so that it can be discussed more broadly in this section. From the results of the questionnaire data, the average student already understands the importance of the organization that has been provided by the campus. By being organized, students can be creative and broaden to communicate with someone. So this is where students' communication and emotions are formed to deal with a problem that will occur. Negative information can be in the form of false, obscene, or malicious expressions (Teddy Dyatmika., Syamsuk Bakhri,., & M. Rikzam Kamal 2021). In these organizations and institutions, students are free to curb their creativity and do something for this country. Quoting from the article (Arnan Muflihady Martadinata., 2019). Students need to have very broad insight and reach to be able to help the community by solving problems critically because being critical does not develop naturally and is not innate, being critical can be developed through a learning process from experience and so on. Based on the definition of critical thinking, critical thinking is to compare one's knowledge that aims to solve problems by deciding which knowledge to use to solve problems. It can be concluded that it is thinking that occurs in the cognitive system. . Critical thinking includes data analysis and interpretation in scientific research activities (Budi Cahyono, 2017). The problem of society at this time is also regarding the amount of information that is not true with actual events or what is commonly called HOAX information, maybe even students still cannot distinguish which news is true. Social media now often appears negative news that can be in the form of slander or expressions of hatred towards someone The future of the nation is also influenced by educated youth, educated youth must have quality skills, and without certain factors, a student is still lacking to overcome this nation's problems. The difference between students who follow the organization and those who do not join the organization are also very different in their performance and critical patterns because by following the organization they can develop skills and courage to overcome problems, and in people's lives there will be many problems that will be faced, and of course, all problems will be solved if there are any. who has problems? Organizational experience in building soft skills for students who have joined this organization, including leadership, communication skills, teamwork, problem-solving or  conflict management, building networks or networking, and the ability to improve social skills (Suranto, Familia Rusdiant., 2018). Performance is one measure of the success of an organization. So, in simple terms, power can be defined as success. But the situation does not stop, something has to do with the word success in itself, namely smart and enthusiastic work behavior (Hadyanti Harras, Endang Sugiarti, and Wahyudi Wahyudi., 2020). So in terms of solving problems in the community, students need to follow up on this, so that the knowledge and experience they already have can also be useful for people in need and good ethics toward humans. Ethics can be seen as guidelines that contain standard rules that regulate the behavior of actors in the profession. The guidelines contain supporting moral principles and values (Parsudi Suparlan, 2014). The environment can also affect the performance of students who want to do community development, because basically, the environment is one of the locations or places a person can stand, if the community environment is negative it can affect students' mentality and can make performance failures, and if communicating with the community then be ethical. in a kind and polite manner. Two-way communication plays an important role in human interaction, but interpersonal communication and communicating with good and polite speech greatly affect the success of two-way communication (Aris Febri Rahmanto., 2004). Students also need to have good ethics toward society, this ethics must be developed so that it becomes an example of good behavior for anyone who sees it and will make a good impression on the name of a good student. Good and polite communication also needs to be done when communicating with the community, especially with those who are older, because this is also included in the values in society itself. E.
