Easterseals Regional Pediatric Center 212 Barney Dr. Joliet, IL 60435 During this time of social distancing, let’s come together as a small group on Zoom to build on current strengths and develop new social skills. Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders can benefit from a Social Skills Group that targets social communication skills. We will incorporate activities that older children encounter in their everyday life, like working together on a goal, taking turns in conversation, and cooperating in a group. We will also have the opportunity to talk about how it feels to be “different” from peers, and to practice coping skills for dealing with anxiety, frustration and difficult social situations. What you will need for this group is a computer, laptop or mobile device with both internet access and a camera. Your child will have to be able to follow adult directed activities and an adult must be present throughout the session to help with materials and technology. Therapists will offer zoom tutorials and tips sheets prior to groups first session in order to get everyone ready to learn and have fun! Monday May 11th – Thursday May 21st 3:30 PM - 4:05 PM This group is 2 weeks long and meets 4 times per week on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday for a total of 8 meetings.
